2007-2008 AFTER SCHOOL CARE AND ENRICHMENT - Grades K-6

After School Care and Enrichment at The Digital Discovery Center is a high quality program developed by Pembroke Kids Child Development Center, and located in the same building. Our after school enrichment curriculum is fun and age appropriate. The environment is safe and nurturing and run by experienced teachers. We include a variety of opportunities for young children to explore computer technology, filmmaking, photography, and more traditional arts, crafts and literacy activities. Stopmotion animation, building with LEGO Technics and programming LEGO robots captivate the older children. Younger children love to build with basic LEGOS and are eager to move beyond just playing computer games to learning how to use computers creatively.

On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings throughout the school year we offer special sessions for kids who love LEGOS, Digital Media, and Robotics but are not enrolled in our after school care program.

LEGO’s - Build with a Buddy!
6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Grades 1-6  Every Tuesday
4 session minimum - $80
  • Come use our amazing collection of LEGO pieces to create imaginary cars, trucks, buildings, space vehicles, and anything else you can think of. Build with your friends and meet other Legomaniacs. If you can imagine it, you can build it.
   
Digital Media - Filmmaking, StopMotion Animation, Music, and Digital Storytelling

LEGO® Robotics

Every Thursday
4 session minimum - $80
  • Build and program your own awesome robots. Learn about robotics concepts through teamwork and problem-solving challenges. Compete with other teams on our specially designed game boards! Here are some examples showing Tankbot on a Mission, and some fun after-school challenges. Also, check out photos and video from our summer camp program.
   

COST & SCHEDULING

The Digital Discovery Center closely follows the Avon Lake public school calendar. After school care begins at approximately 2:30 p.m. and is available until 6:00 p.m. Avon Lake School buses will drop children off at the center after school. Year-long, full time care until 6:00 PM costs $14 per day with discounts for siblings. Please call for details.

Early evening program activities begin at 6:00 PM and last until 7:00 PM. Students must sign up for at least 4 sessions.The cost for 4 sessions is $80, payable in advance. Siblings receive a 10% discount ($72).
